News Macaron is Best Furniture at Cruise Ship Interiors Awards 2020
The Macaron collection wins the Best Furniture category at the Cruise Ship Interiors Awards 2020, the prestigious international award recognizing and rewarding the excellence in interior design within the cruise ships and yachts industry.
The nomination came from Miami, where the second edition of the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo America, was supposed to take place in June, with over 350 exhibitors. The exhibition, one of the most important trade fair for this industry, was ready to welcome thousands of international players in the cruise sector, such as important architecture and design firms, directors of the most important cruise ship companies, shipowners and shipyard managers representing the best yacht industry worldwide.
The collection, designed for Piaval by Laura Silvestrini, was selected by a prestigious jury of 10 experts, including the Interior Design Directors of Carnival UK, MSC Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises. The shortlist of finalists was then submitted to the vote of the public, who decreed the victory of Macaron.
To announce to the public the recognition awarded to Piaval, in an exclusive online-only event on 15th June – was George Scammel, Director of Interior Design & Operations of the US shipping company Princess Cruises and one of the leading experts in the cruise interior design sector. The jury’s motivation quotes: this seating collection combines Italian design with an extraordinary level of comfort, developed to match the specific requirements of naval interiors.
Sophisticated and contemporary lines, enveloping comfort and a solid wood structure are the features appreciated by the Jury. Qualities that, together with its extreme versatility, make the Macaron collection – composed of chair, armchair, lounge and sofa – easily contextualized in every space of cruise ships, from the restaurant to the Club areas, from suites to cabins, as well as in yacht and superyacht spaces.
The design and the quality manufacturing of Macaron, underlined by the elegant curved wood profile at the base of the seat, have undoubtedly determined the choice of the jury who, however, as well recognized the collection’s strong innovative character.
